Ms. Geraldine Bowman, long time MCEA member was called home on December 7, 2019.  Ms. Bowman was an active participant in Chapter 13 for well over 40 years.  Her knowledge and wisdom will be surely missed.

MCEA is always hard at work for our members. One of the ways the union seeks to serve members is by fighting for them in matters of dispute between a member and an employer. The union is happy to tell the story of one worker who had the union come to their aid in their time of need. The member’s name has been withheld to maintain and protect their privacy.

Following a promotional opportunity and the completion of a predetermined probationary period an employee was issued an illegal “rejection on probation.” The employee immediately contacted MCEA and a grievance/appeal was initiated. Management

When MCEA parties, Maryland comes out to party with it. The was shown on Saturday September 14th when elected officials and union dignitaries from Baltimore and the surrounding counties joined MCEA for a Member Appreciation event. The event also honored the longest serving president in MCEA history, Linda Day. The day was gorgeous with warm-moderate temperatures and the rain held off so the outdoor festivities could be enjoyed. MCEA 2019 Biennial Convention Notice

1    Due to the current financial restraints and the bylaw requirements, the MCEA 2019 biennial convention will be held on Monday, October 14, 2019, in Baltimore at the MCEA Headquarters from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

2    Although there will be no registration of delegates, the Board of Directors requests each chapter designate a representative to speak on behalf of the chapter’s members.

3    The president will call the convention to order at the appropriate time.

4    The session will consist of one four-hour open forum.
