Member Recognition Application 2018-2019

Dear Colleagues,

At this year’s Hall of Fame, we are looking to honor ten members who go above and beyond in education, the school, and the community.  Who are these members?  They’re the ones who stop and help you put up a bulletin board, cutting into their own lunch period. They’re the ones who ask staff-centric questions at staff meetings and get away with it because they’re knowledgeable and respected by colleagues and administration alike.

Tell Your Legislators To Give Teachers and Support Staff a Raise!

On March 13, 2019 the Board of Elementary and Secondary Education (BESE) approved a K-12 funding plan that designates $101 million dollars to reoccurring pay raises for teachers and school support employees. This could mean an extra $1000 for teachers and $500 for support employees and a first step towards getting Louisiana to the Southern Regional Average, but it isn't over yet:  This legislative session our representatives and senators will vote whether or not to approve this funding plan.

Escalate, Escalate, ESCALATE!

It’s time to escalate! Legislators are hammering away at policy and making amazing progress on a slew of great bills. What they haven’t been focused on is funding our colleges and finding new revenue. This process is nothing new. In budget years, they work through policy first, having small conversations on the budget, up until policy cutoffs are all completed. We knew this would happen and we anticipated how those conversations would go, but frankly, we expected more support from the people we helped put into office.
