NTU Update - June 3, 2016

Colleagues,

 

1)    Negotiations Update – On June 2, the Negotiations Committee presented a confidential draft of our contract proposals to the NTU Executive Board for review and discussion.  The reaction to the committee's proposals by the Executive Board was overwhelmingly positive.  Our Negotiations Committee will be meeting one last time to make final edits suggested by the Executive Board before our first negotiations session with the NPS team on June 15. 

 

Membership Meeting June 22, 2016

The next General Membership Meeting of the Baltimore County Federation of Public Employees will be held on Wednesday, June 22, 2016, 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the BCFPE Office, 305 W. Chesapeake Ave., Suite L30, Towson, MD 21204.

Discretionary Funds

Dear Colleagues,

We have been getting mixed reports about the distribution of discretionary funds.  Please reach out to Mike Maillaro at mmaillaro@newarkteachersunion.com if you have not yet received your funds.

In addition, it is vital ensure that “unexpended amounts” are distributed in accordance with the contract as quoted below.

Please direct your administrators’ attention to the underlined section below should they have an issue with the process.

CT Students for a Dream and the Community Foundation for Greater New Haven are organizing a training for non-profit staff, volunteers, and community members to learn how to build a "Community-Led DACA/DAPA Implementation" program.

Support Lawrence Teachers on Thursday, June 2nd

At last week's Long Island President's Council meeting we were made aware of a very serious situation. The teachers of the Lawrence Teachers' Association are coming to the end of theirFIFTH year without a contract, and anticipate beginning their SIXTH in September!

Win at Western Maryland Hospital Center

In the wake of community outrage around the potential closure of Western Maryland Hospital Center (WMHC)  we are pleased that the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DHMH) is no longer interested in pursuing a Request for Proposal (RFP) which is a first step to the privatization of the facility.
