As President of the Maryland Classified Employees Association (MCEA) it is my distinct pleasure to welcome you to the MCEA Website. Since 1935 MCEA has advocated for and has improved the quality of life in the workplace for countless State, County and Municipal employees throughout the State of Maryland. MCEA became affiliated with the American Federation of Teachers (AFT) in October of 2010. We now stand with our new family of union brothers and sisters which boast 1.5 million members nationwide.
Although we are now a part of an international labor movement our primary objective remains focused on addressing those issues which impact state and local government employees within Maryland. We are a member run and service driven organization “Our most important job is yours”.
MCEA uses only highly skilled and seasoned Labor Relations Specialist to represent our members. MCEA provides its members with the most thorough and professional grievance and disciplinary appeal representation available. We provide our members facing termination, rejection on probation and involuntary demotion representation at the Office of Administrative Hearings by our extremely talented attorney at no additional cost. Additionally, with Board approval MCEA permits our attorney to represent our members in challenging appeals and grievances through appeal to Maryland’s highest court.
