In accordance with the current times, MCEA was unable to gather in person for this year’s annual convention. However, that does not mean that work wasn’t completed. The union convened virtually for the 2020 annual convention and continued the business of the organization. There were several vital presentations from a host of people and organizations. MCEA's 2020 Convention will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2020, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., via telephone conference. We will not be meeting in person due to concern of COVID-19.

Registration is REQUIRED, and registration CLOSED at 8:00 p.m., Friday, August 28, 2020 to allow for membership confirmations to take place in advance of the Saturday morning meeting

Letter to members from President Day

Members,

I share everyone’s fear and concern about the COVID-19 also known as the coronavirus. I remain in contact with state and local authorities and will pass along any updates pertaining to our work. Beyond our professional concerns, I want to stress concern for the welfare of each and every one of our members and your families.

This pandemic is something that’s not been seen in many of our lifetimes. However, I’m confident if we follow the directions of health care professionals, we will collectively and safely overcome the coronavirus.

Passing of MCEA Member Whitt Nottingham

It is with a heavy heart and saddened spirit that I share with you the passing of Whitt Nottingham, husband of Laura Nottingham and associate member of MCEA Chapter 75. Whitt passed away on June 16, 2020 at home surrounded by his family. He was 69 years old. Whitt has been ill for some time, receiving care from hospitals and rehabilitation centers but spent the majority of his time at home under the care of Laura and her daughter Laurelle with the support of home health nurses. We will miss him greatly. I know you will keep Laura and her whole family in prayer. 

Funeral services have been entrusted to March Funeral Home. Due to the COVID-19 restrictions, the services will be televised by Zoom. I hope you all stay well, and be safe.

MCEA CONVENTION POSTPONED

Members, the country as a whole is experiencing a rather unique situation, the seriousness of the coronavirus (COVID-19) has reached global proportion and people from all walks of life have been effected in some way or fashion. It is the responsibility of the BOD (Board of Directors) to look out for members health and safety. Therefore, the BOD has agreed to postpone the MCEA convention scheduled for April 18, 2020 until further notice.
