Benefits of Membership

It's coming-- the floor fights in the State House and Senate over the so-called Right to Work bills and the other attempts to weaken our collective bargaining rights will start next week.

The SEBAC lawsuit concerning the Rowland layoffs is nearing the final stagtes of settlement.  There are two steps remaining:  (1) The Connecticut General Assembly must review the settlement.  If the General Assembly takes no further action by June 1, 2015, the settlement will be deemed approved.  (2) The Court must approve the settlement.  The Court will schedule a hearing in the early fall in which it will consider whether to give final approval for the setlement.

Students from Green River College started a petition at Change.org, demanding fairness from President Eileen Ely and the Board of Trustees.

On May 13th, nearly 400 students, staff, faculty, and community members rallied in the rain for over an hour to protest at Green River College and sign a vote of no confidence in the college president., requesting her dismissal from her position. Over 340 people marched to deliver that document to the offices of the Board of Trustees as seen here.

The faculty of Green River College overwhelming pass a second Vote of No Confidence in President Eileen Ely and provide a detailed letter supporting the many reasons for this vote.
