Linda Diane Day
MCEA President, 2011 – 2021
It is with deep sorrow and respect that Marilyn Miller, President of the Maryland Classified Employees Association (MCEA) announces the passing of former MCEA President Linda Day. Our hearts and prayers go out to Linda’s family, friends, and union brothers and sisters.
Linda Day was a long-time and dedicated employee of the Maryland State Department of Social Services. She became an active union member, first as a chapter leader, then as a member of the Board of Directors, and ultimately as the longest serving President of the Association. While she worked in Baltimore City and lived in Randallstown, Linda was a vocal advocate for State and public employees across the State and in every agency in Maryland. Through her decades with MCEA, former President Day testified before the General Assembly, spoke at crowded union halls, knocked on doors, phone banked, and spread the word through Zoom meetings – all for the betterment of Maryland State employees.
Services for Linda will be held on April 3 and 4, 2024, at Chatman-Harris Funeral Home West and Morningstar Baptist Church, and details can be found at Legacy.com.
May her union sisters and brothers continue to stand in solidarity with Linda Day, and may her memory be a blessing.
In Solidarity,
Marilyn Miller, MCEA President and the Executive Board Members
